Photography- These are a some of the pictures I've taken over the last couple of years. I started taking pictures as soon as I was old enough to use a camera. I guess when I really started getting an interest in photography was when I was probably about 8 or 9. My Mom had said I could take some pictures on our one use camera after much pleading (which i did often :-), so I had gone outside and started snapping pictures. I recall standing in our old shed, seeing one of our tabby cats. I tried to take a picture of it. Unfortunately, it was shy and ran when I tried to get close to it. There was a pile of firewood stacked next to the shed and as the poor kitty climbed over it I snapped a picture. Well, out of all the other pictures that I had taken that day, that snapshot was the one picture that came out decent. While my Dad was looking through the pictures, he came to that picture and I remember him saying something like "that's a nice picture... you should be a photographer." I don't know if I've really accomplished that yet, but I'm still trying. I'm always experimenting with shooting at different angles, in different lighting, etc... My Grandmother (who is a wonderful artist) has taught me a lot about the Golden Mean method and helped me with cropping. As you can see by my pictures, she's still working on me :-) . I also did the photography A and B projects in 4-H. That really helped me to get an overview of the basic rules of photography, and enabled me to win 1st place in the county judging last year.
