Hola!

Hi everyone-
I know I said I would get pictures from my trip up after the 29th . Sorry
it is taking so long :-( I am in the process of completing EMT school. My
trip was great, but I missed 3 classes when I was gone. and have had to catch up
on those classes which I finally have, but also work on these last classes. We
have a test for every chapter, so all my spare time has been going into
studying. I know alot of people have asked about pictures, and I'm really sorry
I havn't been able to get them up. I still need to sort them etc... I
think my final test is on the 26th, so after that HOPEFULLY life will slow down
and I can get those pictures up. I have been working on them a little bit at a
time... there are just allot of pictures. Thanks to everyone who helped me
get there and thanks even more for your patience:-) Ariel
On April 21st I will be traveling to Honduras to help build a house with Habitat for
Humanity.
I’ve
always liked to build things. Last year, I learned a lot about construction when
I helped my brother-in-law Joseph re-model our house. I loved watching our
kitchen being transformed into a beautiful kitchen from the smashed and
demolished ruins left behind by his back hoe. (I was actually thrilled to see it
fall, our house was desperately begging for Hurricane Joseph to come through)J.
I learn best by doing things with people who know what they’re doing, and got to
help with just about every aspect of construction, from the foundation, to the
hardwood floors. My favorite things were putting up drywall and spackling
(NOT!!), but I really did enjoy learning to do all those things. I learned how
to “properly” cut in and apply even coats of paint from a professional painter.
Then, last summer, I did makeovers on most of the upstairs bedrooms and learned
about and applied different faux textures to the rooms.
The HFH houses in Honduras are much simpler then the houses built in North
America. They are simple concrete block structures with two bedrooms, a bath and
a combined kitchen and living room. I’m really looking forward to the whole
experience. Not only will I be able to help out a family in need of a home, I’ll
get to see first hand another part of the world and learn the Honduran methods
of building. We will be working right alongside the Honduran people, so I will
be able to experience their culture and way of living. Maybe it will even make
my Spanish lessons worthwhile ;-) I’m also hoping to get some good pictures of
Honduras and the Mayan ruins in CopanJ.
As most of you know, I love taking pictures!
I would greatly appreciate your prayers
Thanks for visiting- Ariel Destiny
